The 2010 Symphony Designer Show House created quite a buzz around Charleston. Last month, Eden Boheme's hallway was featured in Charleston Home Magazine's On the House blog. Editor Ellen McGauley loved our use of framed wallpaper panels as a way to easily dress up a room. Instead of using photographs or pieces of art, we incorporated the color and patterns of various wallpapers to add a designer flair to the room. If you're anything like us, a change is always refreshing. Because the panels can be easily installed, you can swap them out for others when you tire of the current set. It makes for truly versatile decor!

On Sunday, May 16 we took part in the “Do the Charleston” festival with a Mad Hatter Tea Party. We were lucky to have designer Leigh Magar join us with her lovely collection of hats! To top it off, we won 2nd place for our window display in collaboration with our neighbors, Lilly and Dixie Dunbar. A blast was had by all!

Yesterday we met AMAZINGLY talented Ashley Hester, designer and owner of Esther Jean, who landed in Charleston a few weeks ago on a cross country road trip and decided to stick around for a bit...lucky for us, through March for Charleston Fashion Week, as we hope to collaborate with her for our Thursday night show. Esther Jean is a gorgeous line of Victorian style headdresses, chokers, and custom clothing. Her talent is truly humbling and inspiring and we can't wait to work with her.

The September Issue Premiere Party

Join Charleston magazine style editor Ayoka Lucas this Friday, October 2nd for The Terrace Theatre James Island’s Champagne Premiere Party to celebrate the opening of The September Issue. Moviegoers will have two opportunities to walk the red carpet to this glamorous affair, featuring a Fall Fashion preview presented by several of Charleston's premiere shops, including Eden Boheme, Hampden Clothing, Beba Luxe and II Brunettes! Complimentary champagne will be provided and special VIP seating will be given to the first few guests, and there will be Charleston Fashion Week ticket giveaways at both parties. Come dressed in your best "Vogue" style and you may be featured on the Charleston Street Style Video Blog!

A Night Out....

We were really excited to be the first boutique to carry the custom signature skirts by Green Label (they have been flying out of the store and I can't wear mine without getting boo koo's of compliments). To kick off her first ever East Coast selling trip, designer Karen Green stopped by Eden Boheme to drop off our August delivery and give us a sneak peak of her new pieces (to be debuted at Eden Boheme's Fall Fashion Event at the Sanctuary September 26th). We have become great friends over the last couple of months and couldn't be happier for the success she is already experiencing with her new line. This is us above out for a night of debauchery (not really...just dinner) in Green Label attire. The dress on Karen is one of the new pieces!!! Too bad you can't see the back : ).

Versace Couch and Aladdin Carpet

Our new GREEN sofa, dubbed the "Versace Sofa" because of it's over-the-top ornate pattern, is not only green in color (lime and hunter) but is also a recovered vintage sofa, locally discovered and reworked making it eco-friendly and one of a kind. The "Aladdin Carpet" is the most beautiful Persian rug the Eden Boheme girls have ever seen. It is an 8x10 authentic Persian with vibrant purples, pinks, lime green, teal, and even yellow.

.....Australian Vogue Living! Eden Boheme picked up the outdoor furniture line Emu last week and has since seen it featured in designer magazines from all over the world. They have everything from more traditional wicker sofas, to Harem canopy huts, and the extremely popular multi colored metal line of tables and chairs. The Re-Trouve Sedia chair, featured above, is completely whimsical and fun and perfect for any summer night garden party. In Charleston it is only available through us so stop in anytime to see their complete catalogue.

Interior Design Project

These are the preliminary design boards for a home we are currently working on downtown. We have really great clients (friends) for this job who have fantastic taste and wanted a mix of modern a rustic with an ultimate goal of brightening the space. It has been a lot of fun and we expect the results to be fabulous. Painting is underway now and the purple sofa is on it's way so we will keep you posted to the results!

The story behind this? It was actually a pretty typical day in the life of living with Lucinda. We were painting and putting finishing touches on the store when she noticed 9 men in tuxes with a photographer on the sidewalk and invited them in to have photos taken on our pink couch.

Clothing deliveries are starting to arrive at Eden Boheme. We adore Wink. I have been pining for the top Stella Petal dress ($330) since I first saw it. The Mia jumpsuit ($153) was my first clothing purchase through the store and I have to be careful not to wear it every day. It is adorable and comfortable. The Emmie shorts (yes shorts... $165) and Kai top ($174... it is even cuter in person complete with a bow in the back) look great together or mixed with other pieces.

Because we became so busy with the opening of the store, we fell (way) behind on the blog and are now having to back fill. We really want to document the process of opening (which is mostly self serving so bear with us) so all of this is an attempt to backlog our experience.

When we began creating our logo we found ourselves being extremely picky because we already had such a clear image of what we wanted in our heads. The perfect answer came when we stumbled across Danae Hernandez, a designer based in New Mexico who mostly does calligraphy and wedding monograms. The images above are what she developed for us, the very last two being the first ones she sent us and progressing backwards are the adjustments she made along the way. The very top is our final logo. We couldn't be happier and have already received tons of compliments. Thanks Danae!

The Naming of a Dream

Armed with the idea and the desire to open the boutique...and a deadline of June 1st....the first step was to form the LLC. And for that, all we needed was a name. We decided that since we hoped the store would become a combination of our designs, we named our individual lines first (Lucinda Eden and Anna Boheme) and combined them. The outcome: EDEN BOHEME!
